I apologize if there are any mistakes in this review as I am tired.

The reason I am so tired is because this damn book kept me up until the early hours. I just couldn’t put it down. I did try but I was rolling around in bed with my mind racing and thinking about what was going to happen next.

Its no secret that Bookouture are my favorite publishers and they have found yet another author to add to my ever growing pile of must reads.

The book throws up incredible twists and turns that I didn't see coming. The chapters are short and fast which makes for a great read that is full of tension that really hooks you in.

The story is told through Jeanie and her sister Marlena’s point of view and leaves you wondering what is real and what isn’t, especially when Jeanie starts seeing Ghosts and dead animals and just what was her secret?

It’s a great read and I look forward to Claire Seebers next book.

My Thoughts

Now and again I fancy something a bit different from the Crime genre that I normally throw myself into and when I read the description of The Trouble With Goats and Sheep I really had to give it a go.

The story is largely told through the eyes of ten year old Gracie, who along with her friend Tilly, are determined to find their missing neighbour Mrs Creasy.

I was completely immersed in the story and truly felt part of “The Avenue”. Set in the long hot summer of 1976 it’s a great nostalgic trip for anyone who was brought up in the 70s and although I was only 4 at that time, it really threw me back to the time with thoughts of Butterscotch Angel Delight and sitting in my granddads chair looking at the toys in the Kays catalogue.

It’s a Happy/Sad story that uses flashbacks from residents of The Avenue with the story unfolding beautifully and the truth about Mrs Creasy is revealed.

The Trouble With Goats and Sheep is funny and heart breaking. A great debut novel from Joanna Cannon. and a book I highly recommend.
